Sabrina Dhawan’s first produced screenplay Monsoon Wedding was awarded the ‘Leon D’Oro’ at the Venice Film Festival in 2001.Moonsoon Wedding was also nominated for a Golden Globe and BAFTA for Best Film in a foreign language. She adapted the short story cosmopolitan, starring Roshan Seth, Crol Kane and Madhur Jaffery as a film for PBS and wrote an episode for 9.11.01 an anthology of short films on 9/11 for Canal plus, directed by Mira Nair.

Miss Dhawan is a co-writer on the upcoming Kaminey directed by Vishal Bharadwaj (Omkara, Maqbool) and on Ishqiya, also produced by Vishal Bharadwaj. She is a co-producer on Bollywood Hero, a three part TV series starring Chris Kattan for IFC. Ms. Dhawan Channel, Killer films and Arena Pictures.

Ms. Dhawan was born in England and was raised in New Delhi, India. She holds a Master’s degree in communication Research Columbia University’s graduate film program with honors in 2001. Her thesis short Saanjh – As night Falls, Starring Nandita Das was cited as Best of the Festival at the palm Springs international Film Festival2000; Most original film by New Line Cinema and nominated was for a student Academy Award.
